Software and Hardware Requirements

Because so many modern games used in educational settings are web 2.0 tools, the needed software and hardware list may look much smaller than it did when gaming was first made widely available in the classroom in the early 1970's.

Gaming requires devices, and today such hardware would include desktop computers, laptop computers, tablets or other handheld devices such as phones.  One or more servers are needed to carry the load of internet usage relative to the number of users accessing the web.

Software requirements vary from one educational situation to the next, but regardless of the situation, each device will need a compatible operating system to access content from the server.  Some devices may be application-based as well.
